Drive Ecommerce Revenue and Grow Repeat Purchases with Mailchimp’s Product Recommendations Feature

By April 22, 2019 No Comments

Ready to increase revenue and drive repeat purchases? You’ll love Mailchimp’s Product Recommendations feature, utilizing individual customer purchase data to help you promote just the right item, at just the right time.

By adding automated recommended products to your campaign (ie., email marketing efforts), your customers are much more likely to see items they really want.

More engaging to customers, and great for your business.

Product Recommendations work to predict what your customers will want to buy, instead of showing a random assortment of items they may or may not connect with or care to purchase.

Mailchimp does this by gathering useful information based on what each client has purchased in the past, then identifying and ranking up to 10 product recommendations for each customer.

The only downside is that product recommendations can’t be customized beyond that with this feature, and thus works most effectively if you have a lot of ecommerce data already. Mailchimp does require your store to have at least 10 products for sale, 50 customers, and a minimum of 500 orders in the past year.

Not enough data? Don’t worry; Mailchimp will display your top sellers in lieu of more selective product recommendations until you have a bigger database.

In this scenario, Mailchimp takes your most popular 15 products from the last 30 days of customer and purchase history. While perhaps less effective, it’s a great way to start growing a bigger base, and allows your business to shine through.

Send emails encouraging customers to keep shopping for the most useful of items.

It’s easy; just drag and drop the content block into your layout in Mailchimp. Because product recommendations are unique to each customer, definitely take a look at your campaign in Mailchimp’s Preview Mode, and make sure content blocks or merge tags are up to snuff.

To preview this, just enable the live merge tag under Preview Mode.

We always recommend taking a look to see how your customers view your campaign.
